INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS
VISUAL GLUCOSE
STRIP FOR SEMI-QUANTITATIVE DETERMINATION OF GLUCOSE IN THE
BLOOD
Since the test result is a semi-quantitative judgement based on
colour, shade and intensity, it is useful to get the opinion of a second person
on final result. It is important to make the color comparison within next 25
seconds, otherwise the colour will be going to be darker and the evaluated
concentration will be higher than the real one. Each colour block corresponds to
a glucose value.
Lightest colour is glucose 40 mg/dL. A reactive strip with a
color lighter than 40 mg/dL has to be considered as a glucose level lower than
40 mg/dL.
A reactive strip with a colour darker than 500+ has to be
considered as a glucose level higher than 500 mg/dL.
Normal Blood Glucose
Values: at fast normal glycaemia values in a non-diabetic person are: 70-110
mg/dL (3,9 – 6,1 mmol/L).
Important! Caution is recommended in the
interpretation of glucose values below 50 mg/dL or above 250 mg/dL. Consult a
physician as soon as possible if such values are obtained.
